Summer break is just around the corner! Yippee! But with it can come the dreaded “summer slide” (where students lose a significant amount of academic gain made over the school year). We all want to prevent this regression, buuuut it can be challenging to make kids do much school work over the summer. So, I compiled a list of *fun* activities that I think your kiddos will actually enjoy doing over summer break!

1. Read!

Encourage kids to read over the summer with this fun coloring reading log! (It’s FREE!) They can record books they read themselves – or ones their parents read to them. Either is great! (Make sure to let them pick books that interest them!)

2. Journal

Journaling is a low-key way to keep those writing skills fresh over the summer. Need some inspiration? Check out these silly journal writing prompts!

3. Play Online Educational Games

These games make reviewing math and literacy skills FUN! Your kids will be asking to play them! They’re also interactive, self-checking, AND provide instant feedback. How cool is that?!

4. Color!

Coloring is such a relaxing summer activity. This summer “color by code” is a great way to practice all those important sight words!

Hope you found some ideas that can help your students (or even your own children) over the summer! Enjoy!
