Looking for some inspiration for your upcoming Thanksgiving lessons? I’m going to share my favorite read alouds, writing prompts, games, and activities to celebrate this holiday!

I always like to kick off my Thanksgiving unit with some great read alouds! Here are my top picks:

After reading these books, it’s time to write! My students always love to write about if they were a Pilgrim. We brainstorm ideas together and I write them down on chart paper for the students to refer to as needed. Check out this cute Pilgrim writing template:

I also like to add some Thanksgiving games to my literacy centers. Your students will love “helping” the Pilgrims find their way to the feast with this fun board game! This “Spin and Color” game is also a goodie!

Looking for a low-prep activity? This Thanksgiving Color by Sight Word is right down your alley! Just print and go! It also makes for a perfect independent work packet!

Hope you found something that can help make your lesson planning a little easier!

Happy {almost} Thanksgiving!
